Universal OPC UA server and SCADA client

Rustechnology, LLC has released the final version of the developed universal OPC UA server, which supports the entire line of manufactured stand-alone pressure and temperature sensors BBT-DDT. Now our clients have the opportunity to receive data through a cross-platform OPC UA Server of our own design via a SCADA client.

OPC UA (Unified Architecture) is a modern standard that describes the transmission of data in industrial networks. It provides secure and reliable communication between devices, while being hardware and platform independent, which allows communication between devices with different operating systems.

The structural diagram of the operation of the OPC UA server components, as well as interaction with external devices and SCADA clients, is presented below:

Stand-alone pressure and temperature sensors BBT-DDT, according to a set schedule, transmit the measured pressure and temperature values to the server via the GPRS / NB-IoT channel. With the help of a SCADA client via OPC UA server, the system operator manages the adjustable parameters (alarm thresholds, polling period, operability confirmation period, data transmission period in the accident zone) of the BBT-DDT stand-alone pressure and temperature sensors.

The key advantages of OPC UA are an object-oriented information model, which allows data to be viewed (similar to viewing in a web browser), and a service-oriented architecture (SOA). If earlier you had to use several OPC servers: OPC DA for real-time data, OPC HDA for history and OPC AE for events, now all this and much more is available in one OPC UA standard. Instead of a tag tree, the concept of nodes or objects is used. Each node includes variables, methods, and other data structures of the real object.

Data exchange takes place through binary structures and XML documents. In addition to the client / server model, a publisher / subscriber model is also available. In addition, the standard defines a mechanism to support redundancy (if one client becomes unavailable, another will replace it) and quickly restore communication in the event of a failure. Data transfer occurs via the transport protocol TCP, HTTP / SOAP or HTTPS. Instead of access control mechanisms, OPC UA implements support for digital certificates and the ability to encrypt transmitted data.
